Aeolian Islands, Italy
In the northern part of Sicily, there is a little corner of paradise where the mystery of nature is reflected in the waters of a crystal-clear sea. These are the seven islands of the Eolian Archipelago, emerging from the sea as great shards of volcanic soil anchored in the abyss of the sea.
The battle among the elements has created an ensemble of extraordinary areas where were caves, reefs, cliffs, smooth walls, and black sand beaches were formed, surrounded by a sea full of fish. On the extremely fertile volcanic soil, generations of farmers eked out land for cultivation on the mountain, modeling the landscape with dry-stone walls and terraces built by hand. This is where the typical Eolian-style houses are scattered.
