The closest port of departure is Milazzo, from which the majority of connections depart for the Eolian Islands. There are also connections from Palermo, Cefalù, Reggio Calabria and Naples.

Prohibited traffic: in the summer months, the Municipality of Lipari prohibits motor vehicle traffic on the islands by non-residents. There are exceptions for homeowners and for anyone having a reservation of at least 7 days in hospitality lodgings.
